40Ar/39Ar thermochronology from the northwestern Dabie Shan: constraints on the evolution of Qinling–Dabie orogenic belt, east-central China
Seven structural units with distinct kinematics have been recognized in the northwestern Dabie Shan (114°E– 115°E and 31°N–32°N), east-central China. They are, from north to south: (1) the north-verging Mafan fold belt (MFB) involving early Paleozoic metamorphic rocks; (2) the Liangting melange belt (LMB), which is separated from the MFB by a south-dipping thrust and consists of gneissic and ma...

Fault dating in the Canadian Rocky Mountains: Evidence for late Cretaceous and early Eocene orogenic pulses
Fault rocks from the classic Rocky Mountain foreland fold-and-thrust belt in southwestern Canada were dated by Ar analysis of clay grain-size fractions. Using X-ray diffraction quantification of the detrital and authigenic component of each fraction, these determinations give ages for individual faults in the area (illite age analysis). The resulting ages cluster around 72 and 52 Ma (here calle...

متن کاملMiddle Paleozoic convergent orogenic belts in western Inner Mongolia (China): framework, kinematics, geochronology and implications for tectonic evolution of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt
Based mainly on field geological observation and geochronologic data, six tectonic units have been recognized in western Inner Mongolia (China), including, from south to north: North China Craton (NCC), Southern Orogenic Belt (SOB), Hunshandake Block (HB), Northern Orogenic Belt (NOB), South Mongolia microcontinent (SMM), and Southern margin of Ergun Block (SME), suggesting that the tectonic fr...
